The original 'Canterbury' station is now Canterbury West. The first railway season tickets were issued in 1834 and this fact is now recorded on a plaque at Canterbury West. Some of the old buildings (photographed (left) in February 1985) associated with the original terminus in Canterbury still exist although they are incorporated into a housing development.
