Hatton Track Bed

 Towards Hatton

- - which starts at the trees on the horizon - the line ran above the line of the wall which now divides the fields.

The 1 in 13 Hatton Incline at the northern extreme of the line, was the last of the three stationary engine-worked inclines to close, when it was superseded by a deviation line in August 1868. The photograph on the left was taken by Mr James F. McEwan about 1935-3 and shows part of the original route in a cutting (presumably at the Glack of Newtyle before the line runs out into the open to reach the top of the incline at Hatton). One of the original bridges can be seen.

The picture on the right shows the members of Broughty Ferry Crusader Bible Class exploring the line north of this cutting in the 1960s
